Erik Tetteroo is a consultant at APPM management consultants for urban planning and bicycle-inclusive mobility. He has studied Architecture at Delft University of Technology as well as Master City Developer at the University of Rotterdam. Erik has developed the concept of HOD during his studies, based on the urban planning characteristics of the bike-train system. HOD is the Dutch version of TOD, in which the scope of the bicycle determines development opportunities.
Erik operates on various topics such as real estate, urban design, mobility and infrastructure, in the Netherlands and abroad. He is senior cycling policy advisor for the Ministry of Transport & the Environment in the Netherlands. In this role he is the secretary of Tour de Force, a joint initiative of different governmental bodies for increasing bicycle use. The purpose of Tour de Force is to invest more attention, priority, and money in bicycle policies, considering the great social benefits.
Erik is involved in the Dutch Cycling Embassy as the representative for the United Kingdom. He has organized ThinkBike workshops in cities like Miami, Denver, Berlin, Helsinki and Göteborg, and lectured at conferences in cities such as London, Leeds and Newcastle, and at Colorado University. Last but not least, Erik is an avid cyclist and mountain biker.
